📚✨ Mrs. Frederick’s Classes Are Officially Published! ✨📚
We’re so excited to share that our students are now officially published authors! Each student wrote and illustrated their very own story, and together they created a beautifully bound class book — a project we’ll never forget.
A huge thank-you to Studentreasures Publishing for turning our words into something lasting and real. This has been such a meaningful experience and a memory we’ll carry forever.

Our Meet Up and Eat Up program is set for summer!
Here is some information from our food service director, Dana Gierzak. Please email her with any questions at gierzakd@hesp.net.
There are two ways for families to participate-
1. In Person Monday-Thursday:
Breakfast 9-9:30
Lunch 12-12:30 in MSHS Cafeteria-enter MS entrance
Meals will be sent home on Thursday between 12:30 and 1:00 for Friday-Sunday.
2. 7 day meal pick up on Thursday, beginning June 19.
The form to participate must be completed and submitted 3 days prior to pickup day.

Meals will include breakfast, lunch, and a gallon of milk.

The 8th Grade Class at David C. Outwin Middle School, in Hesperia, traveled to The Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Detroit, on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The students, teachers Mr. Doug Baird and Ms. Kori Hansen, as well as several parent chaperones toured The Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village.
A huge shout out to The Fremont Area Community Foundation for funding this educational experience for our students. Also, a huge shout out and thank you to Holiday Coach Company for accommodating our transportation needs on such short notice. Our drivers Holly and Leighann were absolutely top notch!
What a wonderful learning experience for our students.

This will be my last announcement for this year. I want to thank you for your support.
The Middle School students will continue to be working hard in their classrooms and earning the end of year activities that are planned. Students need to also be making good choices and behaving appropriately to earn the activities.
Activities for the rest of the year:
* Friday, May 30th Baseball tournament and cook out with panther bucks used to buy items.
* Wednesday, June 4th is the 5th grade field trip to Grand Rapids Public Museum
* Monday, June 9th Half Day, Field Day
* Tuesday, June 10th Half Day, Middle School Celebrations Assembly and Field Day, Last Day of School

Middle School students are continuing to work hard in their classes and earn panther bucks! We enjoy offering field trips and end of year activities to our students! In order to participate in these activities, students earn them by working hard in their classes, and behaving appropriately. We want students to be rewarded at the end of the year for meeting these expectations!

The Middle School students will continue to listen to the book "Soar" read to them in their seminar classes. The last incentive for this year will be May 30th with a Baseball Tournament and cook out, where students may purchase items with their panther bucks. There will not be an incentive this week or next, due to Swing Out activities and field trips. The incentives have been a rewarding experience for students this year!
Sports and Activities:
* Monday-Middle School track meet at Montague at 4:00 p.m.
* Monday- Spring Choir Concert at 6:30
* Wednesday-Middle School Conference Invitational at Mason County Central at 4:00 p.m.
* Thursday- Middle School Spring Band Concert at 6:30, sixth graders warm up at 6:00 p.m.
* Friday-Swing Out at 12:30

Mrs. Troughton’s innovative teaching methods, unwavering dedication to her students, and passion for teaching is truly unmatched! She actively engages students and staff alike, encouraging Panther Pride. Her classroom is a dynamic and engaging environment where students are encouraged to become active participants in their own learning. She demands excellence and respect-and she gets it back by giving it out everyday! Congratulations Louise on a job well done!
Here are some helpful end of the year dates for middle school:
Last week, a great group of our 8th graders took part in the final Speak Up! retreat of the school year at Camp Newaygo! Accompanied by Ms. Hansen and Mr. Dent, students enjoyed a two-day experience filled with classic camp fun and meaningful lessons in youth philanthropy.
Huge thanks to Camp Newaygo for hosting such a powerful opportunity and to the Fremont Area Community Foundation for their continued support. We’re proud of our students for representing Hesperia Middle School and taking steps to positively impact their community! 💙

* Monday-Middle School track meet home vs. Mason County Central at 4:00 p.m.
* Wednesday-Middle School track meet away at Manistee at 4:00 p.m.
* Thursday-Student of the Month assembly
* Salmon Release in the class party is on Friday at 11:30
* Middle School Frozen Yogurt Day is on Friday as well. .
* Friday incentives outdoors and in the gym rotating between kickball, basketball, and dodgeball.
* Daddy Daughter Dance on Friday between 6:00-8:00 p.m.
