Attention HCS Families: Hesperia Community Schools will be transitioning from Skyward to PowerSchool beginning with the 2025–2026 school year. This change is part of our ongoing efforts to improve communication, streamline systems, and reduce paper use by consolidating student and school information into one user-friendly platform. Later this summer, families will be invited to create PowerSchool Parent Portals, where you’ll be able to view grades, attendance, schedules, and update contact information. Stay tuned for more details and step-by-step instructions as we roll out this exciting new system. Thank you for your continued partnership!

Our Meet Up and Eat Up program is set for summer! Here is some information from our food service director, Dana Gierzak. Please email her with any questions at gierzakd@hesp.net. There are two ways for families to participate- 1. In Person Monday-Thursday: Breakfast 9-9:30 Lunch 12-12:30 in MSHS Cafeteria-enter MS entrance Meals will be sent home on Thursday between 12:30 and 1:00 for Friday-Sunday. 2. 7 day meal pick up on Thursday, beginning June 19. The form to participate must be completed and submitted 3 days prior to pickup day. The 8th Grade Class at David C. Outwin Middle School, in Hesperia, traveled to The Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Detroit, on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The students, teachers Mr. Doug Baird and Ms. Kori Hansen, as well as several parent chaperones toured The Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village. A huge shout out to The Fremont Area Community Foundation for funding this educational experience for our students. Also, a huge shout out and thank you to Holiday Coach Company for accommodating our transportation needs on such short notice. Our drivers Holly and Leighann were absolutely top notch! What a wonderful learning experience for our students.

Just a reminder that today is a full day of school. Also, we have full days all of next week. We do not have a half day again until June 9th and June 10th. Thank you!

Mrs. Sherburn is the High School Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Sherburn has many roles at Hesperia including being an outstanding teacher to our students! She mentors elementary students yearly by inviting them to her high school science lab and working with older students. Mrs. Sherburn is an excellent advisor for the National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, and is involved in community service by hosting blood drives, cleaning up the highways, and working on local food trucks. Her creativity helps flourish learning in her classrooms for her students! Congratulations Jennifer on a job well done!

Mrs. Troughton is the Middle School Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Troughton’s innovative teaching methods, unwavering dedication to her students, and passion for teaching is truly unmatched! She actively engages students and staff alike, encouraging Panther Pride. Her classroom is a dynamic and engaging environment where students are encouraged to become active participants in their own learning. She demands excellence and respect-and she gets it back by giving it out everyday! Congratulations Louise on a job well done!

Mrs. Vicki Hawes is the Elementary Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Hawes is a remarkable colleague and an inspirational teacher for her students. Her unwavering dedication, contagious smile, and positive attitude create a nurturing environment that fosters learning and growth. She has gone above and beyond by enrolling the building in programs needed and securing funds that are necessary through grants. As the technology teacher, she makes an indelible impact on our students in kindergarten through fourth grade! Congratulations Vicki on a job well done!

The Periodic Table of Elements has many trends, and students in Mrs. Sherburn's Chemical Science class explored this concept in a fun and creative way by building 'Periodic Tables of Cereal.' Using characteristics like brand, color, shape, calories, sugar, and fiber content, they organized cereals to mimic the structure and patterns found in the real Periodic Table. This was a deliciously clever way to connect chemistry with everyday items!
