An important message from Mr. Mey:
February 15, 2026
Dear Families,
We have made the difficult decision to close school for Monday, February 16, due to the Boil Advisory that remains in effect. This decision was not made lightly. However, our number one priority is the safety of our staff and students, and at this time we do not have adequate supplies of bottled water, cold lunch items, and hand sanitizer to remain open on Monday.
We also understand the importance of providing as many days of instruction for students as we can. Our plan is to procure, tomorrow, the necessary number of the above items to remain open through the remainder of the boil advisory. When we open again on Tuesday, we will have bottled water for all staff and students, as well as adequate hand sanitizer and the ability to serve every student prepackaged breakfast and lunch. In addition, we will have increased supervision of hand washing for our youngest students, and drinking fountains and bottle fillers will be shut off.
We understand that this is a frustrating situation, and we appreciate your patience, grace, and support as we navigate it together.
Sincerely, Bryan D. Mey Superintendent

Update from Superintendent Bryan Mey
We are aware of the Village of Hesperia’s boil water advisory and understand families may have questions.
District administration is working closely with the Newaygo County Health Department and village officials while reviewing our internal safety protocols to determine the feasibility of conducting school safely.
We will communicate any changes promptly and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

The Panthers travel to Ludington on February 11 for the next conference matchups. 📚🧬🎶

Happy February, Panthers! 💚
Just a friendly reminder that while Wednesdays are usually half days, February includes a few full Wednesdays due to Count Day and Mid-Winter Break. Here’s a quick look at the month so you can plan ahead!

School Spelling Bee Results:
We are excited to announce the winners of this year’s school spelling bee!
In the Elementary division, Scarlet Craner took First Place, with Alan Reyes as the runner-up. While Alan is unable to advance due to a pre-scheduled family event, we can’t even BEE upset about his trip! As a result, Sparrow Forbes will step in to represent us in the runner-up position.
In the Middle School division, our champion is Emerson Cram, followed by runner-up Brandon Hesse. The competition came down to three exceptional spellers—Emerson, Brandon, and Lillien Thompson—who faced off in a thrilling four-round showdown that truly kept everyone buzzing.
Congratulations to all of our spellers for their hard work, focus, and fantastic performances!
Our four representatives will move on to the Regional Bee to compete against champions from other local schools. Please join us in wishing them luck on February 24 at 4:00 PM at the NCRESA in Fremont.
